Watching Never Say Never Again. Part of the stupid Ultimate Bond series. Good set of films, bad way to organise them. Who came up with the idea of watching the series backwards? Films should always be watched in chronological order, unless it is meant as a flashback sequence or something like that. Think of it, “Ah, Mr Bond, we meet again”, “Meet again Blofeld? We won’t meet for the first time until my last film, which will be on next week!”.
Anyways, Connery looks rough in it. He will always be remembered as Bond, but not for this performance. Judging by appearance he’s meant to be Bond Senior. Grey Jackets instead of Black Tuxedo’s, I think his Licence to Kill has been revoked for a Pension Card.
Looks like EA may have a winning idea in combination with Connery though. After many dud Bond games, they may have a good one coming out; From Russia With Love. Don’t hold your breath I hear, but may I remind you of EA’s first Bond game; The World is Not Enough. A great job by EA, and the reason; they didn’t write the story. They came up with the storylines for the other games, but T.W.I.N.E. and F.R.W.L. are based on films, and can’t be as easy to muck up.
But the real winner in this idea is their famous voices. We’re used to them having Pierce Brosnan and Judi Dench do the character voices for the games, but this time they’ve gone one better, and I think it’s a reason to buy instantly. Let’s face it, Pierce never acted in F.R.W.L. and so who better to bring in for it than Connery himself. It’s a genius idea. Well done EA and Connery, I applaud you.
